At our January program meeting, Karen Sheffield spoke to us about the history of Jamestown and her ancestor who was among the settlers. Thank you, Karen, for a very interesting presentation!
TGS Board member Mary Anne Price will present an overview of family history resources that are available here in Tallahassee. Time: Social time is at 1:30 pm and the meeting will start at 2 pm. Location: The Fireside Room in the Parry Center at Westminster Oaks. (The Parry Center may also be accessed through the Maguire Center if you would like to park in the parking garage or near the Pool House.)
Former TGS Board member Dick Sherwin will present the changes in the US census from 1850 through 1950. Time: Social time is at 1:30 and the program starts at 2. Location: The Fireside Room in the Parry Center at Westminster Oaks. (The Parry Center may also be accessed through the Maguire Center if you would like to park in the parking garage or near the Pool House.)
Matthew Storey, Archives Historian at the State Archives of Florida, will talk to us about the US census from 1790, the first year the federal census was taken, through 1850. (Matthew spoke about land records at our June 2024 program meeting.) Time: Social time is at 1:30 and the program begins at 2. Location: The Fireside Room in the Parry Center at Westminster Oaks. There will be no TGS program meeting in May because the fourth Sunday falls on Memorial Day weekend.
