  • 25th Anniversary Party held at North Florida Medical Park I building Conference Center. Members Barbara Boykin, Mary Elisabeth Black, Ellenior Cotton, Clinita Ford, Ed Mims, Nellie Mims and Florida Parker were presented with Charter Member Certificates. All members present were given a TGS lapel pin in honor of our 25th anniversary.

  • Kick off of the Leon County Heritage Book project through Heritage Publishing Consultants.
  • Fifth annual Genealogy Series was not held this year due to Presidential Elections.
  • First annual African American Research Day held at the Florida Archives with WCTV coverage.
  • Annual TGS Spring Seminar held at St. John’s Episcopal Church’s Alfriend Hall with speaker Dick Eastman.

2009-2010

  • Monthly meetings moved to the Leroy Collins Leon County Public Library. Meetings moved to the fourth Sunday of each month, beginning at 1:30 pm.

2011-2012

  • Completed the Leon County Florida Heritage Book project, published by Southern Yellow Pine Publishing company.
